Education

Real education must ultimately be limited to men

who insist on knowingthe rest is mere sheep-herding.
Ezra Loomis Pound (1885-1972) U.S. poet.

The mediocre teacher tells. The good teacher explains. The superior teacher demonstrates. The great teacher inspires.

"The ruling class has the schools and press under its thumb.

This enables it to sway the emotions of the masses."
Albert Einstein

"In our dream, we have limitless resources, and the people yield themselves with perfect docility to our molding hand. The present educational conventions fade from our minds; and, unhampered by tradition, we work our own good will upon a grateful and responsive folk. We shall not try to make these people or any of their children into philosophers or men of learning or science. We are not to raise up from among them authors, orators, poets, or men of letters. We shall not search for embryo great artists, painters, musicians. Nor will we cherish even the humbler ambition to raise up from among them lawyers, doctors, preachers, politicians, statesmen, of whom we now have ample supply."

Rockefeller Foundation Director of Charity,
Frederick Gates, 1913

"The economic well-being of the nation depends on the presence of a large number of men who are content to labor hard all day long. Because men are naturally lazy they will not work unless forced by necessity to do so. The education of the poor threatens to rob the nation of their productivity... Every hour those poor people spend at their books is so much time lost to society. Going to school in comparison to working is idleness."

Bernard de Mandeville, The Fable of the Bees, 1714
(the book which Adam Smith used as the basis of his
1776 Wealth of Nations, the capitalist Bible)

The Subversion of Education in America

Though hard to believe even now, the US adopted the Soviet Communist approach to education. In 1961, Rep. John M. Ashbrook tried to alert Congress to what was happening. Citing a document published by the Department of Health, Education and Welfare called "A Federal Education Agency for the Future, " he called the new education programs "a blueprint for complete domination and direction of our schools from Washington. Guess what? He was right. More

The Deliberate Dumbing Down of America

One of the interesting insights revealed by these documents is how the social engineers use a deliberately created education “crisis” to move their agenda forward by offering radical reforms that are sold to the public as fixing the crisis—which they never do. The new reforms simply set the stage for the next crisis, which provides the pretext for the next move forward.  This is the dialectical process at work, a process our behavioral engineers have learned to use very effectively.  Its success depends on the ability of the “change agents” to continually deceive the public, which tends to believe any lie the experts tell them.  More

The Six-Lesson Schoolteacher
Look again at the six lessons of school. This is training for permanent underclasses, people who are to be deprived forever of finding the center of their own special genius. And it is training shaken loose from its original logic: to regulate the poor. Since the 1920s the growth of the well-articulated school bureaucracy, and the less visible growth of a horde of industries that profit from schooling exactly as it is, have enlarged schooling's original grasp to seize the sons and daughters of the middle class. Learning to Be Stupid  in the Culture of Cash

You might think that reading about a Podunk University's English teacher's attempt to connect the dots between the poverty of American education and the gullibility of the American public may be a little trivial, considering we've embarked on the first, openly-confessed imperial adventure of senescent capitalism in the US, but bear with me. The question my experiences in the classroom raise is why have these young people been educated to such abysmal depths of ignorance. More

Reading Between the Lines -The New Education Law is a Victory for Bush -- And for His Corporate Allies

Nonetheless, the legislation delivers a huge victory to Bush: This year's reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act is widely regarded as the most ambitious federal overhaul of public schools since the 1960s. States will now test all students annually from third to eighth grade, while launching a federally guided drive for universal literacy among schoolchildren. Perhaps more strikingly, a political party that once called for the abolition of the Education Department has radically enhanced the federal presence in public schools. After repeating the mantra of local control and states' rights for a generation, the GOP now intrudes on both. What has happened? More

The Drugging of School Children in America

APPROXIMATELY TWO MILLION of America's children are being dosed daily with amphetamines and amphetamine-like drugs like Ritalin and Adderall at the insistence of teachers and school administrators. Why? More

The "Fix" That's Destroying Education In America

Today's education system is driven by money from the federal government and private foundations, both working hand-in-hand with the Education Establishment headquartered in the federal Department of Education and staffed by the National Education Association (NEA).

These forces have combined with psychologists, huge textbook publishers, teacher colleges, the healthcare profession, government bureaucrats, big corporations, pharmaceutical companies and social workers to invade local school boards, classrooms and private homes in the name of "fixing" education. The Non-Education System of The United States

By 1905, Dewey was the dominant voice in American teacher educational change, operating out of Harvard University. In 1920, Russia hired John Dewey to construct a program of "progressive education" for the Soviet school system. By 1932 Russia informed Dewey that he was a failure, and that rather than educating the children, his system was turning out a nation of delinquents. In 1933, after failing in the Soviet Union, Dewey set up the same Humanistic system in the United States. More
