Why Bush Will Nuke
Iran
By Paul Craig Roberts 9-27-6
The neoconservative Bush administration will attack Iran with
tactical nuclear weapons, because it is the only way the neocons
believe they can rescue their goal of U.S. (and Israeli)
hegemony in the Middle East.
The U.S. has lost the war in Iraq and in Afghanistan. Generals
in both war theaters are stating their need for more troops. But
there are no troops to send.

The Next Phase of the Middle East War
by Michel Chossudovsky September 4, 2006
Confirmed by official statements and military documents, the US
in close coordination with Britain (and in consultation with its
NATO partners), is planning to launch a war directed against
Iran and Syria. US Ambassador to the UN John Bolton has already
initiated the draft of a UN Security Council resolution with a
view to imposing sanctions on Tehran for its alleged
(nonexistent) nuclear weapons program. Whether this resolution
is adopted is not the main issue. The US may decide to proceed
in defiance of the Security Council, following a veto by Russia
and/or China. The vote of France and Britain, among the
permanent members has already been secured.
US military sources have confirmed that an aerial attack,
pursuant to a sanctions regime on Iran, with or without UN
approval, would involve a large scale deployment comparable to
the US "shock and awe" bombing raids on Iraq in March 2003:

The March to War: Iran
Preparing for US Air Attacks
Iran is bracing itself for an expected American-led air
campaign. The latter is in the advanced stages of military
planning.
If there were to be war between the United States and Iran, the
aerial campaign would unleash fierce combat. It would be fully
interactive on multiple fronts. It would be a difficult battle
involving active movement in the air from both sides.
If war were to occur, the estimates of casualties envisaged by
American and British war planners would be high.
Vermont Congress candidate calls on Pentagon to arrest Bush,
Cheney
Saturday,
Septmber 23— Former Army Lieutenant and candidate for Congress
in Vermont, Dennis Morrisseau, today called for the arrest of
President Bush and Vice President Cheney by the American
military "if necessary" to prevent an unauthorized attack upon
the nation of Iran.
"American forces
are apparently already active inside Iran, and Naval forces have
received orders to deploy to that country," Morrisseau said.
"The President has NO AUTHORITY to attack the nation of Iran
whatsoever, in the absence of a full, formal Declaration of War
on Iran by the sitting Congress."
October Surprise
Morrissaeu's website notes that the Bush Administration
and the Pentagon have issued orders for a major "strike group"
of ships, including the nuclear aircraft carrier Eisenhower as
well as a cruiser, destroyer, frigate, submarine escort and
supply ship, to head for the Persian Gulf, just off Iran's
western coast.
According to Lieut. Mike Kafka, a spokesman at the headquarters
of the Second Fleet, based in Norfolk, Virginia, the Eisenhower
Strike Group, bristling with Tomahawk cruise missiles, has
received recent orders to depart the United States in a little
over a week. Other official sources in the public affairs office
of the Navy Department at the Pentagon confirm that this
powerful armada is scheduled to arrive off the coast of Iran on
or around October 21st.
